They ran an article in today’s paper about how the Mayor and some other elected officials’ homes are in foreclosure.
Pretty funny really, they are leaders of the community
The situation is so bad it’s even ensnared some elected officials and political leaders who Monroe County residents look to for fiscal responsibility and budgetary soundness. Among them are Monroe County Tax Collector Danise Henriquez and Key West Mayor Morgan McPherson, according to The Citizen’s court records search of all Keys officials. Schools Superintendent Randy Acevedo apparently has cleared up his foreclosure case, as has Key West City Commissioner Clayton Lopez, who blamed his on Hurricane Wilma.
Foreclosures are quite hilarious, especially for Clayton who was flooded out of his home in 2005 by Hurricane Wilma. Community leaders in Key West are no more immune to financial downturns than anyone else. Mayor McPherson is a realtor with four kids and they can’t get by on his wife’s salary alone- she is a school Vice Principal. My wife and I are lucky, neither of us works for $100 a month as city commissioners so we are able to keep paying our mortgage…A lot of people aren’t solucky even though this isn’t as bad as Michigan.
oh really the mayor has kids, I feel so bad for him
isn’t it his second house in the keys that is in foreclosure? how will they possibly get by with only one house?
