Well Fantasy fest 08 just ended in Key West. It was a good time, lots of close to naked people, many of which where attractive women.
The worst part of fantasy fest is the parade, the “Captain Morgan’s” fantasy fest parade, in my opinion. Could it be more whored out, the parade is essentially a bunch of advertisements , and they even sold the name to a sponsor. Freaking boring and it goes on forever.
I’ll post some pics here but have to keep them tame due to word press and other sites I submit designs to getting all worked up about adult content. It seems like a girl in a bikini is “adult” content to those guys.
For an extensive photo galleries of the event check out kwflausa.com
if that didn’t stand out enough
Here are some safe photos

Federal agents on Thursday raided 13 Duval Street shops to confiscate pipes, bongs and other drug paraphernalia that is illegal under federal law, even if it isn’t under state law. The State Attorney’s Office, which participated in the raid, said it does not anticipate any arrests. Agents also confiscated computers and financial records.
I didn’t actually know that pipes and bongs where illegal by themselves, isn’t there something more important that law enforcement could be focusing on?

Took a trip to the Dry Tortugas with the girlfriends family. Dry Tortugas and Fort Jefferson are located about 70 miles west of Key West. Essentially 70 miles out into the ocean.
It was pretty good, one of the attractions in Key West that is definitely worth the money. We took the Yankee Freedom ferry to the island. It’s about a 2 hour journey, most of the trip is kind of sheltered by the Keys but once you get past the Marquasas it could be a bit rough if it’s really windy.
The fort and moat are pretty amazing and there is also pretty good snorkeling from the beach there. However, it had started to get windy when we were there which stirred up the water so we couldn’t see that good. We are kind of spoiled when it comes to snorkeling though.
They give you lunch and breakfast on the boat, which was ok. Then they serve drinks on the way in. They will also drop you off on the island to camp if you want.

This free wordpress theme features closeup shot of sport fishing reels on a sportfishing boat on the ocean withthe blue sky in the background. The blog posts show up on a white background and the theme is framed in navy blue, with posts separated by silhouettes of popular game fish. Sidebar headers are navy blue with white silhouettes of sportfish for an overall nautical look for sport fishermen (and women!)

Florida real estate has been crashing BIG time, like probably a once in a lifetime event.
When Catherine and I first moved here it was at the height of the real estate bubble, and being the dumb greedy yankees we are we got sucked into it.
Catherine bought a little condo in Homestead FL, it seemed nice in a brand new development etc. It was cheaper then renting . The whole thing appeared to make sense. It was 20 minutes to Key Largo such good fishing for me and close enough to Miami for Catherine to get a Real Job.
Catherine bought the condo for 134k, which seemed like a lot but the way prices where sky rocketing still seemed ok. See we didn’t know that Homestead is basically a toilet. I’m sure there are people who love it there, if you like stuff like suburbs and walmart and speak Spanish it’s probably ok. But honestly for us it totally sucked. This in itself is another subject.
Anyways we came to our senses and had to get out of there, the real estate bubble had peaked and prices had started to fall. I read online people talking about the impending crash, and it got into my head that we had to sell the place as fast as possible. My fear infected Catherine, and it was a good thing. She kept her place the lowest priced in the development, and finally we sold it after 6 months. I could write a whole novel on the dishonesty and incompetence of the real estate “professionals” we met in that time.
The condo sold for 154k and it was like a weight off our shoulders , we moved to Key West and pretty much deceided to never live on southern mainland Florida again.
Now today I checked the MLS for homestead to see how much the prices on similiar condos dropped

Thats right you can get the same condo Catherine sold for 154k now for $39,900. Holy Cow she would have lost pretty much everything if we had stayed there. And PRICES ARE STILL DROPPING.

This past week I have been stuck trying to fix sites for google images.
Visitors from Google images don’t tend to convert to money that easily but it’s still visitors.
First issue I dealt with is that nextgen galleries don’t seem to index into Google. I found what appeared to be the problem, an odd style tag which is put on the thumbnails. Once that style tag is removed and just regular width and height attributes applied, google images seems to start indexing the images.
The next problem is it appears Google is mis-naming the images. Instead of using the alt tag on the image as its label Google is just now pulling the label from some random text near the image. So like an image alt tagged “iguana” which is a picture of an iguana, is labeled “categories” because apparently the word “categories” which is label further up the page is more relevant to what the image is.
Google says they are doing this because people spam the alt tags, that is response from the mutli-billion dollar technology company. Just grab some random text from the page near the image, way to go.
This is kind of old news but in the photo galleries I have made myself I always used the file name as the alt tag, so the file name was always right. Since I started using these fancy third party galleries I really thought that just using the alt attribute would be enough, but of course I was wrong.
